Peripheral Vascular Disease: From Diagnosis to Treatment

Peripheral vascular disease, also known as occlusive arterial disease, is characterized by blockages in the leg arteries. Many patients with peripheral vascular disease have pain in their legs with walking, although some people experience no symptoms. Because this condition involves artery blockage, it also can put individuals at risk for amputations. Typically, patients who suffer this condition, also are at risk for heart disease and stroke. Dr. Rodriguez will review the risk factors, symptoms, diagnostic tests and available treatments for peripheral vascular disease.

Featured Physician
Heron E. Rodriguez, MD, is a vascular surgeon on the medical staff at Northwestern Memorial, co-director of the Limb Preservation and Wound Care Clinic at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute and assistant professor of Surgery at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
