The Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute’s Electrophysiology Laboratory at Northwestern Memorial Hospital provides a range of treatment services for patients with irregular heart rhythms. Jeffrey J. Goldberger, MD, will discuss how catheter (radiofrequency) ablation is used to treat atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardia, potentially eliminating the need for lifelong drug therapy. The use of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) to prevent sudden cardiac death also will be discussed.
